Active SMART is a full-featured failure-prediction agent for machines using Windows 95, 98, NT, Me, 2000 and XP. It monitors hard disks and alerts you to impending failure. The program uses Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) and can predict failures on your hard drives. Also, Active SMART monitors drive temperature and prevents drive overheating. A host of alerting features include email, local pop-up messages, net messages, and event logging, while using no system resources.
Various monitoring modes and alerting options are available (local and remote). The built in messaging features allow for system administrators to be notified of impending hard disk failure on any machine on the network while local alerting can be configured to notify the user. Easy-to-use interface allows users to use Active SMART without any special technical knowledge. |
