Screen Pass is a security tool for Windows workstations that extends the capability of the standard screen saver and workstation locking mechanism. While Screen Pass is useful for stand-alone workstations, it is intended primarily for workstations connected to Microsoft, Novell, or Banyan networks.
With Screen Pass, Network administrators can enforce password protection and exert control over all aspects of the screen saver.

* Enforced password protection for screen saver. (Uses network password even on Win 95/98/ME.)
* True administrator override, allows administrator to unlock workstation without logging out current user.
* Autologout terminates logon session after administrator defined idle period has exceeded.
* Limits screen saver selections that are available to the user.
* Records events to application event log or text file, including locking, unlocking, login events, etc.
* Includes Bouncing Image Screen Saver that can be configured to display company logo or admin defined image.
After Screen Pass is installed on a workstation, the user is prevented from turning off the password protection for the screen saver. In addition, the administrator has control over the screen saver timeout period by enforcing maximum and minimum timeouts and control over the screen saver grace period, the time after which the screen saver becomes active and before the workstation becomes locked.
Note that with the Screen Pass administrator overrride, the workstation is simply unlocked; the existing logon session is not terminated. This differs from the standard functionality in the Windows NT/2000/XP operating system where the current user is logged off and unsaved application data is lost. |
