Declan's Japanese FlashCards is a fully configurable audio-based Japanese vocabulary flash-card program. The program has been designed to help students learn a large number of Japanese words as quickly as possible in a systematic but fun and simple way. The program includes an audio feature that uses voice recordings of a word's pronunciation to aid the learning process. The program includes a flashcards feature a well as a number of exercises which help with the memorisation of words and test the student's progress. Exercises include Kanji/Kana multiple choice, English multiple choice, listening multiple choice, a word/definition connecting exercise and a grid search/matching exercise. Words are grouped into Word Files and the flashcards and exercises are undertaken on the basis for these Word Files. The program comes pre-installed with a number of Word Files and many others can be downloaded from the Declan Software Japanese Word File archive and installed manually. Upon release Word Files totalling over 3200 of the most frequently used Japanese words - each with a sound recording of its pronunciation - were available for download. Word Files are studied based on a Learning List. The Learning List feature allows the student to concentrate, at any one time, on a smaller sub-set of the larger Word File. Only after a word in the Learning List has been mastered will it graduate from the Learning List and another word from the Word File replace it. Words graduate from the Learning List if they are correctly answered consecutively in each of the exercises. One incorrect answer and the word's consecutive answer counter is reset to zero. This process of words graduating through the Learning List and being replaced continues until all the words in the complete Word File have been learned. The it is time to move to the next Word File. |
